Embracing People, Culture, and Country

Our deep connections between our community, our cultural heritage,
and the cherished land we call home.

How we help:

Employment

Werenbun Aboriginal Corporation is dedicated to supporting local Indigenous people to secure sustainable employment through the programs and pathways it offers. We have a variety of relationships and employment opportunities in hospitality, tourism, water management and land management.

Education

Our dedication to education run though every aspect of the the Werenbun Aboriginal Corporation. Our commitment to education ensure future generations have access to pathways and programs. Education is also a foundational pillar for our tourism as we share and celebrate our rich culture.

Werenbun Rangers

We are a part of the Kakadu Indigenous Rangers Programme (KIRP) with our Werenbun Rangers. This program currently offers limited training and employment to local Indigenous rangers with the vision to expand to more opportunities, pathways and a junior program.

Our History

Located in the serene outskirts of Kakadu National Park, Werenbun Aboriginal Corporation (WAC) embodies the spirit and traditions of the Bolmo, Matjba, and Wurrkbarbar clans.

The Corporation was established in May 1985 to act on behalf of the members and maintain and manage the traditionally owned lands. The vast land areas include portions of West Arnhem Land, such as East Alligator Creek, Mann River, Centipede Dreaming (Nibildakiya) and Snowdrop Creek. The Mary River Roadhouse and the Gunlom Aboriginal Land Trust. Sleisbeck, a portion of Manya laluk Land Trust and areas to the top of Nitmuluk Gorge National Park.

These lands are of unspoiled beauty and cultural significance; we strive to uphold the legacy of our ancestors by protecting our environment, preserving our culture, and providing opportunities for our community.
